The rules for how to play baseball is pretty easy for kids to understand. Anyone can learn the basic rules and object of the game, but can everyone play?
Well, not every kid is cut out to be a great baseball player, but that does not mean that they shouldn’t play anyway.
If your kids love the game of baseball, they should play!
Usually kids are better in one position than another, so maybe your child's coach needs to help choose their position more carefully.
Regardless of age or talent level, your kids should play baseball for the fun of it!
I am not going to go into the rules of how to play baseball on this site. That information can be found on many different websites, my favorites being:
Official Major League Baseball Rules – From the Major League Baseball website
Baseball History and Baseball Rules – From the Wikipedia website
What I want to discuss is the more in-depth part of how to play baseball.
If you really want to be a great baseball player instead of just another player on the team, you need to discover how you really feel about the game.
Playing baseball can be a wonderful experience for those who love to play.
Being a really good baseball player takes a little natural talent mixed with the right attitude. If you have these two qualities, you can go far with this game!
A great baseball player has the attitude that they do not know everything there is to know about baseball. Even the major league baseball players can always learn something new that can help them with their game.
The “know-it-all” attitude will hold back a great player from being an awesome player. It will also hold back the average person from being a great person. Nobody knows everything, but some people like to think they do.
Usually everyone knows somebody who acts like they know it all. Is that a person you want to be around? Most people are turned off by others that think they know everything.
With baseball as with anything, you always have something to learn. One reason for this is that not every baseball tip works for every player. What works for one person might not work for the next person.
There is more than one answer to any question about the skills needed for playing baseball.
When you always keep an open mind to new suggestions or advice from other players and their experiences with how to play baseball, the possibilities are endless of what you could learn.
If you take it a step further and actually apply those learned techniques, you will be on the road to success.
Also make sure to keep a winning attitude! Attitude is everything, and if you think you can do it, you can!
Before I had kids, I did not particularly like watching baseball games. I thought they were slow and boring...
I might have gone to a few Nashville Sounds games just for something to do with my friends, but I never really got into it.
Now that I have kids playing baseball, I can't get enough of it!
Sometimes you do not take an interest in something until you have a good reason for it. Then that interest... in my case baseball... can grow on you to where you can't wait for the next game!
For me the whole experience of watching my son in a baseball game is exciting! Since the game is not as fast paced as other games, I am able to keep up with exactly what is going on every minute.
The slower pace only builds my excitement even more, because you never know when there will be a big play to change the course of the entire game.
I also love looking at the beautifully manicured baseball fields they get to play on and just being outside on a beautiful day. It is usually a beautiful day, because they usually cancel youth baseball games for rain. ;)
I really started enjoying baseball games even more when my oldest son joined a travel baseball team.
It is fun meeting the other kids and hanging out in the stands with their parents. We got to know the parents very well, especially traveling to other cities. We felt like we had created a whole new baseball family.
