It is very common in today’s world to see girls in sports. After all, what’s the old saying?
“Anything boys can do, girls can do better.”
At least that was the phrase I used to hear from girls when I was growing up.
We just wanted to participate in sports without being made fun of, so we had to come up with something to counteract the boys laughing. :)
I think having girls in sports is a wonderful way to keep them active and having fun. It teaches them that anything is possible, and that sports are definitely not just for boys.
These are similar to those for boys, but with a couple that only apply to girls.
Although there are not any sports that are considered just girl sports or just boy sports, there are sports that tend to be predominantly for girls or boys.
These sports generally evolve into other sports where they divide into all girl teams and all boy teams.
Many little girls might start out in gymnastics or dance, while young boys might lean toward more team oriented sports such as football or baseball.
It all depends on age and personality really…
Tee ball generally turns into baseball for boys, and the girls usually move to softball teams.
Gymnastics and dance, while predominantly popular as girl sports in their younger years, become more equal for men and women in later years.
Although both girls and boys will play flag football as kids, usually boys move on to tackle football when they get older and girls move to another sport entirely.
Tee ball is not just for boys. The kids are all so young when they play this sport, nobody makes fun of each other for any reason.
They can all go have fun just being kids!
If your daughter seems to like tee ball, then when they get older they may enjoy softball.
If after tee ball your little girl does not seem interested in sports, then you might try dance or gymnastics instead.
